Vascular plant collections were made during several trips to the Caribou-Poker Creeks Research Watershed during the summer of 1999. Areas visited include Haystack Mountain, the fireline road leading to VABM Carib, and the central portion of Little Poker Creek in the vicinity of the Frost Fire study sites. Plant specimens and observations were made and a permanent collection was created that is processed, databased, and held at the University of Alaska Museum Herbarium (ALA) in Fairbanks. A duplicate collection will be held at a laboratory easily available to researchers associated with Frost Fire and Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) projects on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. A parallel plant tissue collection, stored in silica gel, was taken which is available for biochemical and molecular research. Plants listed here include the collections made during the summer, observations made during the summer, and observations made by Joan Foote (USFS-Institute of Northern Forestry) during her past vegetation work in the watershed. Collection numbers are those of C. Parker, taxa marked 'obs' are observations made by C. Parker or A. Batten. J. Foote's observations are also noted however these are not documented by collections. Nomenclature follows that used at ALA and synonyms are included where names differ from that used by HultŽn (1968), the most commonly used reference for Alaska. This list is not offered as a complete inventory. Only a small portion of the entire watershed was covered this summer. Please contact us about any records you may have that we can add to this inventory, or any suggestions as to areas we should visit in the future. We expect to add many more plants in the future.

Its occurrence is to be expected as it is within the distribution noted by HultŽn (1968) and was collected by Gjaerevoll (1958) from Sourdough Cr., approximately 32 miles to the NE. The only other documented Alaska locality is in the Slana area. It was abundant along a short section of the fire line leading to VABM Carib.
