Led by:
  • Mark Ross, Alaska Department of Fish and Game
  • Mike Taras, Alaska Department of Fish and Game
Visit the interior region headquarters of Alaska Department of Fish and Game and hear an overview of the Department's activities in the boreal zone, as well as discussion of several research projects. We'll visit the adjacent Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge, including two interpretive/information centers on the refuge. We'll have the opportunity to view abundant avian wildlife in the 300 acres just adjacent the information centers, including Sandhill cranes, geese and ducks. We'll visit North America's northern-most bird banding station, operated by the Alaska Bird Observatory. Waterproof boots and binoculars recommended.
